It is with great sadness that we must report the passing of our dear friend, Wayne Markman, on Wednesday, February 12th, 2014.

Wayne was a long time friend to all of us in the independent service industry, and served as  NESDA Secretary and Chairman of the Industry Relations committee for many years.  In his capacity as a NESDA representative, Wayne was a frequent visitor to the Midwest Summer conference, providing training and support, along with a liberal dose of his gentle good humor.

The Electronic Service Dealers Association wishes to extend our condolences to Wayne’s  family and many friends.

Services for Wayne will be held at 3:00PM on Sunday, Feb 16th, at the Temple Beth David in Cheshire, CT.

2013 MWSC Exit Survey is Available Now

The 2013 Midwest Regional Service Conference is over, and now it’s time for us to start thinking about next year.  To help make next year’s conference even better, we need to know what you thought of this year’s MWSC.  If you attended in 2013, we would ask you to take a moment to fill out our exit survey.  If possible, please have each attendee from your company take the survey.  There are 3 ways to take the survey:

The MWSC 2013 website has launched!  For the must up-to-date information on the 2013 Midwest Regional Service Conference, please visit mwsc.esdaweb.org.  New stuff is being added all the time, so check back often for more updates.

Site Design

The MWSC 2013 site has been completely redesigned with an eye at improving usability and making it mobile-friendly.  Users on smartphones and tablets should notice a greatly improved experience.  For any problems or questions about the website, please email webmaster@esdaweb.org.

New Event Registration Service

For the 2013 MWSC, we have switched to a new online event registration service, BrownPaperTickets.com.  Brown Paper Tickets has a more robust set of options, and will now allow conference attendees to register online, by phone, or in person at one of their walk-up locations.  Attendees can click the link below to register.

George Weiss is just back from the spring NESDA board meeting with information to share with us, and we’ll be doing the final planning for the summer conference.

The long overdue exit surveys for 2011 MWSC participants will also be available at the meeting.  The survey form is also available at the conference website, mwsc.esdaweb.org/2011survey or by clicking this link.  Please take a moment to fill out the form in person or online; it helps us plan for future events.

MWSC Insider Has Launched!

We’re 9 weeks from the start of MWSC 2012 in Peoria, and you should  all be receiving the new weekly MWSC Insider emails with the most up to date info on the conference along with features on our sponsors and trainers.  Be sure to check out the conference website, mwsc.esdaweb.org,  as new things are being added frequently.  We’ve arranged early registration discounts, but you need to be an early bird to get the best bang for the buck in the service industry today.

Everyone – members as well as non members – are welcome to start off the new year with our first training offering for 2012. Plan to attend the Wednesday February 8th, 2012 ESDA meeting with our friend Steve Gelman from Sharp Electronics. Steve will share information on the new 70 and 80″ AQUOS sets from Sharp as well how Sharp adapted touch screen technology to the new large screen sets. Steve also has the latest symptom fixes as well as  updated industry initialization procedures.

The Midwest Summer Conference Website is now on line!

The Midwest Summer Conference will again be held at the Four Winds by Sheraton in Peoria, Illinois.  Join us June 28,29,30 and July 1 for what promises to be another informative and enjoyable weekend of training and networking. This conference is run by SERVICERS for SERVICERS and provides and invaluable forum to share ideas, preview new programs and products and receive managerial and technical training that is so essential to business today.  The conference website is now live and ready to take your on line reservations at http://mwsc.esdaweb.org . March Meeting

Plan now to attend the March 14th, 2012 ESDA meeting featuring our own Chairman George Weiss just back from the winter service summit with reports from around the service world. This plans to be an open “State of the Industry” forum to review and discuss the state of our industry, coming trends, etc.

ESDA Meets the second Wednesday of each month.  Future programs in the works include a program on retail diversity opportunities, important consumer electronics safety issues, and more. Stay tuned for  details.
